Every E, S, and G point is tied to an observable event — a disclosure, a filing, a news incident, a regulator action. No proprietary opinions, no black box.
Many sources, one transparent score
We collect signals continuously from a growing set of evidence streams, apply industry-specific materiality weights, and publish both the letter grade and the numeric score — with every input visible.
News & media: Incident detection across European news sources, with sentiment and materiality classification.
Registry data: Brønnøysund, Bolagsverket, CVR and PRH for identity, ownership and age signals.
Emissions data: EU ETS, EPRTR and voluntary CDP disclosures aligned to the GHG Protocol.
Governance filings: Board composition, remuneration, audit opinions and regulatory sanctions.
Sector — Peer sets matched by industry taxonomy — GICS + ESRS sector aware
Traceable — Verified signals link back to source — AI estimates clearly flagged and down-weighted
Versioned — Published methodology — Every release, every override
Materiality weights that match your industry
A bank and a chemical plant should not be scored on the same dimensions. Certigence applies ESRS sector guidance and GICS-level weights so emissions hit harder for heavy industry and labour metrics matter more for services.
Weights re-calibrated quarterly from ESRS sector guidance and SASB.
Industry-specific thresholds for what counts as 'material'.
Every weight is documented and versioned.
Override any weight on a claimed profile with justification.
Expand any score and you see the underlying events. Click any event and you see the source URL, the timestamp, the classifier confidence, and the weighting applied.
Source-linked evidence with archived snapshots.
Positive, neutral and negative signals shown side-by-side.
Time-decayed — older events weigh less than current ones.
Companies can dispute evidence. Analysts can flag misclassifications. Our research team reviews contested items; resolutions are logged on the profile. The scoring engine itself is re-benchmarked every release.
Public dispute log — outcomes visible on every profile.
Regular back-testing against known ESG incidents.
Published methodology with versioned changes.
No single person can override a score without an audit trail.
The numeric 0-100 score is calibrated so that '70' means the same risk posture whether you're a bank or a brewery. But we always recommend benchmarking against peers in the same sector.
How often are scores refreshed?
Incrementally every hour as new evidence lands; fully recomputed every 24 hours. Claimed profiles with disputes are expedited.
Do you factor in positive signals, or only penalties?
Both. Positive signals — e.g., a verified decarbonisation project — lift scores. Negative signals reduce them. Every signal is visible.
Can auditors rely on your scores for assurance?
Scores are an input, not a substitute for assurance. Auditors use our evidence trail to corroborate management disclosures — not to replace their own testing.
